About the Calgary Youth Foundation

If you have an idea to improve your community, we have the money to back you up! The Calgary Youth Foundation is operated by youth who are responsible to distribute grant money to important youth-driven projects. Get involved by becoming a member or submitting a grant application for your great idea.

The Calgary Youth Foundation began in 1994 as the first program of its kind in Canada with a purpose to turn dreams into reality. Involving youth in a hands on approach to philanthropy, it provides youth with an opportunity to create positive change in their community.

Some goals of the Calgary Youth Foundation are to:

  • inspire youth to take an active role in the community
  • raise awareness in youth about the resources in the community
  • educate other youth on the imporatance of philanthropy through presentations and school partnerships

The Calgary Youth Foundation coordinates two granting cycles each year and educates other youth on the importance of philanthropy through presentations and school partnerships.

All granting decisions are made by the foundation members through two granting cycles each year. The members will go through an interview process with each grantee. Adult involvement is strictly advisory.
