Make your way through the exquisite studios, grab a cool Italian soda, try on a garment or two from the local designers and pick up some art lessons on your way out of ART CENTRAL. Located at the center of downtown with convenient public transit access, ART CENTRAL has been filled with opportunities for the young, the old, and the young at heart. Comprising of many galleries that offer a wide assortment of artistic skills, ranging from paintings, ceramics, fashion and jewellery designs, and sculpting, ART CENTRAL has been able to make your visit turn completely into awe. Fortunately, ART CENTRAL isn’t completely based upon diligent observations, a recently developed project called ART CENTRAL Interactive has been a great effort to raise the awareness of art and the creation of artistic features among Calgarians .
Alongside with this, Child and Youth Friendly Calgary’s own Youth Volunteer Corps (YVC) has had the honour of supporting this event with our own members. ART CENTRAL Interactive allows people of all ages and levels to come out and enjoy a day of working out the imagination with ceramics, painting, imprinting, card-making and lots more. Prepared with an enthusiastic demeanor, many of the volunteers from YVC help out with the preparation of the crafts, set-up of the activity room, assist with the wonderful artwork, and cleanup. An excellent opportunity for youth in the community to participate in having fun and meeting great people with the same interests. Many of the volunteers describe their experience at ART CENTRAL as being a positive impact on them to see “such a cool place”.
