Westmount Charter

yvc club in profile

Giftedness is defined through Westmount Charter as a dynamic, multifaceted, multidimensional phenomenon. It involves a record of creative accomplishments over an extended period of time, consists of an interaction among three basic clusters of human traits: well above average ability (in one or more of the intelligences), high levels of task commitment, and high levels of creativity

Westmount Charter has a fantastic teacher who runs the club and undoubtedly infuses it with new and challenging ideas for the kids to really get behind. They participated in a Government of Alberta strategy called “Little Greenthumbs” in which the kids get to participate in many facets of planting, maintaining and ultimately growing a garden. They planted seeds for peppers, tomatoes and lettuce and over the year they watched them grow at astounding rates. When the vegetables are harvested they donated the food to the Interfaith Food Bank. “Little Greenthumbs” not only nourishes the children’s minds, but also the bellies of some needy Calgarians.

Not only is this group unique with the types of service projects that they work on, but they also are interested in many different topics.
