calgary science school -- YVC in schools PROFILE

Did you know that each day 3,436 people spend their days and nights on the cold dark streets of Calgary? In the winter, a large portion of that population spends the night in emergency rooms suffering from frostbite, fevers, pneumonia and other deathly illnesses. During the freezing cold day of February 6th, classes 9.1 and 9.2 headed to the streets of downtown Calgary to sell toques and scarves. The toques were $10.00 and the scarves were $12.00, with all proceeds going to Inn From the Cold and The Back Door. It was tough selling to the public, as some of them had the notion that we were hustlers. However, most people were generous in giving donations. The day was frigid, but everyone learned how to be good salesman and had lots of fun!
