Special Projects

special projectS > accessibility, diversity and inclusion

Engaging ALL youth regardless of capabilities, background, or challenges in a positive and pro-social way within CYFC programs.

Target Group (Calgary youth ages 12-18):

  • Youth with disabilities
  • Immigrant youth with English as a Second Language (ESL youth)
  • Aboriginal youth
  • Youth involved with the Youth Justice System (YJS youth)

Goals:

  • Integrate strategies into CYFC programs to address the needs of diverse youth
  • Increase volunteer participation in CYFC programs from the target groups
  • Raise awareness in the public of the volunteer contributions of these youth who have traditionally been somewhat excluded from community involvement
  • Maintain a safe, respectful and engaging environment for youth to participate in a variety of team-based volunteer projects with peers

** We can also provide additional personalized support to youth during their volunteer placements - as matched to their individual interests and abilities. **

Join CYFC as we carry out this exciting initiative! For question or more information, please do not hesitate to contact us at diversity@cyfc.ca or 403-266-5448 for part-time opportunities, volunteer opportunities, or other community collaboration.
