PROGRAMS > MAYOR's YOUTH COUNCIL
about the mayor's youth council In existence since 1992, the Mayor’s Youth Council (MYC), a partnership between Child and Youth Friendly Calgary and The City of Calgary, represents the voice of Calgary’s Youth. The MYC advises The City on issues important to youth and provides their perspective to a variety of organizations seeking youth input. Mayor's Youth Council consists of youth, ages 13-18, who represent Calgary's youth. Each year members of the Mayor's Youth Council choose topics relevant to youth and report on their findings to the City of Calgary. Joining the Mayor's Youth Council Each year in July and August we are looking for new members to join Mayor's Youth Council. The application process involves a written application in addition to a personal interview. The time commitment for a member of the Mayor's Youth Council is anywhere from 5 - 7 hours per month, although that may vary depending on the initiatives we undertake and the events we attend. Dates for meetings are chosen after members are selected and members can expect to have at least 3 meetings per month. Meetings take place at the Child and Youth Friendly Calgary office in the Kahanoff Centre. For more information about joining the Mayor's Youth Council please contact the Mayor's Youth Council Program Coordinator.
